American Medical News reports that some emergency rooms are now posting wait times online, so non-urgent patients can decide when to visit. While this is great news for patients who don't want to wait hours for a quick flu shot, you have to wonder whether this will result in pressure to treat patients faster so hospital A has a shorter wait time than hospital B down the street, or if patients who think they are "non-urgent", but in fact have a serious condition that needs treatment, will hold off seeking care until it fits in with their schedule.
