Health Care Trends With a Social Media Twist

Next time you see someone drop a piece of food on the ground and say, “It’s ok.. 5 second rule!” Maybe pause them and urge them to change it to 35 second rule.

 

According to a recent article from the Wall Street Journal, dirtier lives might be healthier than we think. The article highlights that our grandparents suffered from diseases that rarely impact us now, and vice versa. Modern-day hygiene and cleanliness have combat infection, but foster allergies and autoimmunity.

 

Interestingly, some recent findings illustrate that there is a parallel between autism and inflammation of the brain. More importantly, that infection with worms or specific viruses can diminish symptoms.

 

I find it fascinating that with modern-day hygiene has possibility accounted for the diseases that have popped up in the past 50 years. So now, let’s go eat some dirt!
