Health Care Trends With a Social Media Twist

Inactivity 'killing as many as smoking'

Researchers say the problem with the lack of exercise causing as many deaths as smoking across the world, should be treated as a pandemic. A pandemic! I admit, I live a bit of a sedentary lifestyle – only hitting the gym or lacing up my running shoes once or twice a month, if I’m lucky – but a pandemic!? The recently published report coincides with the Olympic anticipation, and estimates that about 1/3 of adults are not participating in enough physical activity. 1/3 equates to about one in 10 deaths from diseases we’re all too familiar with hearing about such as diabetes and breast and colon cancer.
