Health Care Trends With a Social Media Twist

Video of Urology Procedures? There's an App for That!

Today UrologyMatch.com announced that they would bringing their urology-centric website to the iPhone, iTouch and iPad via a free mobile application. Medical students, educators, and professionals in the field of urology have already been accessing free content on UrologyMatch.com such as videos, photos, journal articles and discussion forums, but now they will have access to the most critical sections of the site on their mobile devices.

As more health care facilities and educational institutions continue to encourage the use of mobile devices for real-time learning in medicine, health information providers will need to adapt their content to live in the mobile environment. There is a great potential for more real-time, international sharing of best practices via these easy to carry, easy to use, hand held devices.

Wouldn't you want your medical resident reviewing your surgical procedure on the train ride into work?

Having had kidney stones in the past, I can tell you that I was always nervous about any procedure. The more information, the better, especially if a quick look to my phone could ease my nerves!

It's great to hear that the healthcare industry is finally catching on to using mobile. The more applications and tools patients and doctors have, the faster and easier important information like this can be accessed and put to good use!
